Apocalyptic Romance Novellas Coming Your Way

Last week I had a day where I wanted to relax my brain and read someone else’s book. I like a good romance when I’m tired and want to give my brain a rest, but I lose interest quickly when they take place in contemporary settings, so I pulled up Amazon and dutifully searched for a romance that took place during or after an apocalypse. I was able to find a handful, although not many, but I started and abandoned three (within the first chapter) before finally finding one that was well written. This isn’t a post about how important editing, critique partners, and beta readers are, although they’re VERY important, this is about me wanting to find an apocalyptic romance that I can read without having to use my brain. The problem? There just aren’t a lot out there. It occurred to me that I can’t be the only one who likes to read them – I get comments all the time from readers who mention that they love a dystopian/post-apocalyptic novel that has a good romance – so there should be more of these books available to readers. Which brings me to my announcement.

I’ve decided to start a new project with no end in sight:
Apocalyptic Romance Novellas

Novellas are easy for me to write because they’re short and the plot is usually pretty concise, and if I set them in the Broken World universe (Yay!) then I’ve already done all the world-building work. I won’t have any specific release dates, I’ll just write them as I have time and when they’re done I’ll put them out. (So keep your eyes open.)

The good news: I already have one done, and another almost finished, and you can get MORE THAN SURVIVAL now on Kindle and Kindle Unlimited!

Lucy was just nine years old when a deadly virus swept the country, killing most of the population and turning them into zombies. For the past eleven years she’s lived in seclusion with her Uncle Seamus, a prepper who was more than ready for the end of the world.

But all of Lucy’s skills are put to the test when Seamus disappears, leaving her to face the harsh winter on her own.

Sawyer went into the mountains to escape his past, and when stumbles upon Lucy in the middle of a blizzard, he doesn’t think he’s ready for the responsibility having another person in his life will bring.

Only, Lucy isn’t as helpless as she first appeared, and as they brave the long winter together, Sawyer will soon come to learn that even at the end of the world, there’s more to life than just survival.

In case you’re wondering, the apocalyptic romance I finally settled on was Afterglow by Maria Monroe, and it was great. (Fair warning: It has a good amount of “steamy” scenes and is recommended for audiences 18+, so if you’re not looking for a sexy romance, this isn’t the book for you.)
