Reversion of Rights

I am still reeling from the news, but I wanted to share with everyone what’s going on.

I no longer have a book for sale.

I’m as shocked as you.

Things with Broken World weren’t going smoothly, and I was gettingĀ a little frustrated with the lack of communication. On Monday I sent a polite but firm email to my publisher expressing my concerns. I got a reply that night, and traded a few emails with one of the editors. She even expressed that she felt I was behaving professionally and told me she had forwarded my email to the executive editor. This morning, I got a reply from her that really blew me away. She said she felt it would be in both our best interests to discontinue our professional relationship and she was returning my rights to me. At first, I thought it was just for Broken World, but then I found out it was for Collision as well and I was totally blown away. Collision has been removed from Amazon and Nook and is no longer for sale, which really hurts.

I didn’t realize that asking a few questions would mean they would no longer want to work with me, but ultimately if that’s how they feel I’d rather move on anyway. At the moment, I’m working on getting a new cover and trying to get the book back out there on my own. I’m hoping to move fast since I have a blog tour scheduled for the end of this month, but I may have to cancel that.

I’ll keep everyone updated on what happens, but right now I don’t have a clue what I’m going to do.
