Broken Stories is a compilation of short stories and novelettes that accompanies the Broken World series. From California to Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Colorado, listeners will get a glimpse at what other people went through before, during, and after the zombie virus outbreak.

Some of the characters featured in these stories have close ties to the main characters in the Broken World series, while others are brand-new. It’s an emotional, intense, and exciting look at how the zombie apocalypse has changed the world.

Since this is a collection of stories, things are going to be a little different this week, but still just as great!

The Escape

We join up with Jane and Victoria just as they’re rescued from the Monte Carlo by Vivian and Hadley, who make a brief appearance in the story, and they work together to try and get away.

I wanted to write this so we had a chance to learn the fates of at least a few of the other women who’d been held there – even if it wasn’t pretty. I also wanted to get explore the fate of one of the bad guys since we never learned what happened to him in Mad World. Suit Man, the guy who checked in all the girls when they’re first brought to the Monte Carlo, and who liked to walk around like he was super important, tries to stop the two women from leaving the casino and meets a very satisfying – and well deserved – end. I also had Jane and Victoria make their escape using the white van Vivian and Hadley got thrown into at the end of Shattered World.

The only other thing that really sticks out to me about this story is the cat, who I named Jonesy as a nod to Ripley in Aliens who also had an orange cat by that name.
