What can you tell us about the characters in The List?

There are four main characters in this book:
Annie
Ryan
Cami
Chris

Ryan and Cami are cousins who grew up together, which makes their relationship a bit strained at times because they’re more like brother and sister, and Chris has been Ryan’s best friend since they were little. Bring Cami’s roommate, Annie, into the picture, and things get a little complicated.

Chris meets her first. But she and Ryan have an instant attraction.

I’m not a huge fan of love triangles, but sometimes they’re good for moving a plot along in the direction you want, which was why I did one here. Annie is naive and inexperienced and she doesn’t always know how to behave in certain situations because she’s been so sheltered, which is why she doesn’t just speak up for herself. Plus, she knows how close Ryan and Cami are and she doesn’t want to make her new friend mad.

I loved the chemistry I created between Ryan and Annie. They’re sweet and undeniable attracted to each other, but they’re also too selfless to just go ahead and do what they want. They’re the type of friends you want to have.

Chris was not a reader favorite because he was way too pushy with Annie, and I agree. He gets redeemed when I tell his story, but for The List, he’s too clingy.

Cami is too self-absorbed – you find out why in the next book – to see what’s happening right in front of her. She’s the bubbly, fun girl who is always talking and always looking for the next good time, which helps bring Annie out of her shell.

There’s a lot of angst in these relationships, but a lot of sweet moments as well, and I really do love these characters. Now that I have my rights back, I’ve considered bringing the apocalypse to the characters from this series, but honestly, I love them all so much I’m not sure who I’d kill off. Definitely not Ryan, though. I don’t know, what do you think?
