After weeks on the road and devastating losses, the survivors have finally found safety. But as winter falls on Colorado, it brings with it both new challenges and new hope.

What can you tell us about the setting of New World?

There isn’t much to say about the setting since the group is pretty much in the same places that they were in Lost World, but I can say that it’s one long ass, harsh winter. For Vivian and Axl’s group, that means they’re cold and hungry most of the time. They aren’t having much luck hunting despite the fact that the zombies have frozen, and supplies are scare since the people in Hope Springs have been so efficient at cleaning out nearly every home and store in the area. Despite that, they’re able to relax a little since the zombies aren’t a concern, but they’re soon reminded that people can be as much of an issue as the dead.

After learning that people can be immune – and that the CDC is searching for someone who is – Hope Springs takes advantage of the snow by searching for survivors, hoping they’ll be able to contribute to the creation of a vaccine. Again, we get the opportunity to see just how close these two groups are when Jon and Jim end up exploring the same apartment building that Angus and Axl searched only a few weeks apart.
